The Loc’d Confidant presents The Nappy Find: Peace Images Jewelry

I don’t recall the first time I encountered Peace Images. But, what I do remember is falling in love with Camille Peace’s extraordinary jewelry designs. In my humble opinion, this sister has found her true calling in designing and manufacturing beautifully handmade “peaces” for our unique enjoyment. I have acquired a number of unique wood, feather and brass earrings (my addiction) and a couple of rings and necklaces from her line over the years. My most notable acquisition is a pair of dope brass earrings that put you in the mind of the famous “wings” that Miss Erykah Badu sported onstage during a performance at the Merriweather Post Pavillion.

I just had to have those earrings and Camille of Peace Images had something right up that very alley…..I had to have them! I also have a beloved pair of wooden Ankh earrings that I wore during my maternity photo session as I thought they were perfect for the occasion….as it is the Ancient Egyptian symbol for life.

The uniqueness of Matari….I love it!

I am a true follower and lover of this designer….it is always good to see new stuff coming out of her lab. I end up broke, but everyone absolutely loves my Peace Images “peaces”! I get soooo many compliments and requests for her information. So much so that I am hoping to get her here in Washington, DC for a trunkshow soon and very soon! But before then, you can check her out at www.peaceimages.bigcartel.com, on Instagram at @PeaceImages and on Etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop/PeaceImages. I must warn you….once you cop a “peace”, you will crave more!

Chic & Kinky’s Naturals Night Out Recap

Sydelle Cosmetics

Sydelle Cosmetics

This past weekend I attended a fabulous event hosted by @chicandkinky. The Naturals Night Out DC took place at the Washington Marriott in downtown DC. There were lots of lovelies in the place. I was there as a representative of the awesome natural hair and body care line Karen’s Body Beautiful (I sooo love her products). I also had the opportunity to meet some awesome entrepreneurs that are handling business and building empires. I purposefully left my cards and cash at home so as not to feed the inner product junkie, BUT you know I had to have at least one form of payment on me….and I ended up putting that one form of payment to work. I will admit that I could have done major damage, but I only purchased three things….although I loved all of it!

I met the adorable Sydelle of Sydelle Cosmetics and her lovely mother. It felt so good to hear this woman speak of her daughter with such pride and love….it melted my heart right there on the spot. And Sydelle….she had the dopest two strand twists that looked so shiny and healthy. I am tempted to link up with her and ask for a pic of her hair once she takes out the twists….I know the result is going to be an awe-inspiring twist-out! Anywhoo…I caught them as they were packing up and I got to smell some their natural deodorants. I must say that the smells drew me in. I considered myself loyal to a brand of natural deodorant that I found on Etsy, but Sydelle Cosmetics has a new fan. Pampered Pits is my new go to natural deodorant. And whats even better for me is that she is local so no shipping cost…or minimal at least. I purchased the Mountain Man scent for the hubster and Coconuts Over You for myself. I can’t wait to try the other scents,

but it seems like it may be awhile since Sydelle’s mom stated that one tube can last for up to six months! Check out these awesome deodorants at http://www.sydellecosmetics.com and also check the other products. I’m sure you will fancy something.

Along with my deodorants, I found the funkiest earrings from Doll Circa 1930. I can’t say enough about her unique jewelry designs. You just have to see for yourself. You can check Lauren out at http://www.dollcirca1930.com or on Instagram @dollcirca1930. I copped some camouflage colored earrings with a zipper….I will post a pic as soon as I wear them. But seriously, go check her out. I can’t wait to highlight her wares in a trunk show!

If you are ever in a city where Chic & Kinky are hosting an event, be sure to attend. This was a fab affair and I will be sure to check out more of their events in the future!
